Overview

This site supports the Scouting activities of the George White District within the South Plains Council of the Boy Scouts of America

The George White District covers much of the central western portion of the South Plains Council and includes most of Lamb County, as well as Bailey, Cochran and Hockley Counties. Communities within our District include Levelland, Littlefield, Muleshoe, Morton, and others in this region. The units in our area are sponsored by local schools, churches and civic organizations. Scouts benefit the local community through service projects, Eagle projects and area wide “Good Turns.”

The district also hosts its own chapter of the Nakona Lodge of Scouting's national honor society, the Order of the Arrow. This is an excellent way to involve exemplary Scouts in service to their units, the district, council and community and to add to the excitement for the older scout program.

District Contacts and Information

Our District Director is Katy Tabor, who can be contacted via the Council Office as listed on the South Plains Council Web site, or directly by email at this address.

Dr. Jeff Young serves as the District Chairman, and Danny Stancell is District Commissioner.

Roundtables are generally held the second Thursday of each month beginning at 7:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church at 1219 8th Street, Levelland, TX. Roundtables provide a great way for ALL adult leaders and youth interested in improving the value and quality of the Scouting program for their units to learn how to do so, by sharing information among those from various units.  Order of the Arrow chapter meetings are encouraged to be held at the same time and evening at the same location.

District Committee meetings are usually held at the First Presbyterian Church at 1219 8th St., Levelland, TX on the second Thursday of each month, beginning at 6:30 pm.  These meetings are open to all Scouters and serve an important function in the organization and planning for events in our District.

Please contact our District Chair or Commissioner or our District Director for more information.
